Transcript: [0:00] Overcoming 'Not Good Enough' - Tracy Hepburn's Personal Testimony [0:03] I think I was in first grade before I could even tie my shoes and. By the time I was in fourth grade, I looked pretty much like this fourth grade, okay? And all the hormones that come along with that. So I had the message of not good enough, but praise God. I did grow up in a Christian family. However, I felt like I was always, always disappointing my mom. [0:38] And I also bought another lie that said that approval equaled love. So I would try and try and try and try to have approval. Now, as far as my dad was concerned, I was my daddy's little girl because I was the first born him. Then when I was five years old, my parents took him for foster brother. And they are my brothers. [1:06] They, they did not go back to their family of origin. Um, but it wasn't until just maybe six months ago that I realized that that was another message that I got when I was growing up at a very young age. Now, why wasn't myself and my sister? Why were, why were we not good enough? You had to go get all these boys. [1:36] So a lot of messages, and as I said, I did, I did grow up in a Christian home. Uh, we were in the Baptist Church of Fairfield, Maine whenever those doors were open and I got to the point where I was doing okay. And I accepted Jesus, but looking back, I didn't really accept him until much later in life.
